From BMX NZ - a Kiwi at the top of the BMX world! It was with great pleasure that BMX New Zealand can advise that our Deputy Chairman, Ian Mackie, has been appointed by UCI to the position of President of the Commissaires Commission for the BMX event at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The effect of this appointment is that Ian will be acting as Chief Commissaire at the Olympic BMX event. He will be president of a panel of the world’s leading BMX officiators. This appointment is the culmination of Ian’s career as a world class officiator. The New Zealand BMX community will be aware that Ian was responsible for managing the reform of our own officiating structure. The end effect is that we have race meeting management systems of the highest order. Following on from this starting point Ian has acted as an officiator (including Chief Commissaire) at a number of BMX world championships. We congratulate Ian on this appointment, and wish him well with it. |
