Buying a Bike E-mail
Wednesday, 22 February 2006

One of the interesting things about buying a BMX bike is that smaller is better.

It's really easy to get caught into the idea of buying something your child can "grow into" but in BMX it's quite the other way around. Simple tweaks to a bike can ensure that your child is able to ride the same bike for several years.

Ask around on a club night for help and advice about the right size of bike for your rider.

Finding the right bike

Bike Barn always has BMX race bikes in stock and frequently their clearance store in Mt Roskill has a supply too.

Trade Me is a good site to watch for second hand bikes but be very sure you know what you are looking for as many bikes which are classed as BMX bikes are really stylised BMX, or not race bikes.
