Auckland College BMX Challenge

Age Groups are (per Secondary School):

  • Under 14 years (on 1st January 2006) Boys / Girls
  • Under 16 years (on 1st January 2006) Boys / Girls
  • Under 19 years (on 1st January 2006) Boys / Girls

Classes are:

  • 20" Wheel
  • 24" / 26" Wheel combined

Riders will compete in a series to be held on the following dates:

Equipment Requirements

  • Bike:
    • 20" Wheel
    • 24" / 26" Wheel combined
    • Bikes must be race fit condition
    • Safety requires that bike stands, carriers, bells, drink carriers, pegs off freestyle bikes, reflectors and lights must be removed for the duration of this series (training and racing)
    • Bikes with gears must not change gear for the length of that race.
  • Helmet
    • Helmets of either full face (highly recommended) or open face construction. Road helmets are not acceptable in BMX racing. Helmet straps must be securely fastened until the completion of the race. Open face helmets must be fully equipped with the mouth protectors. Face protectors (ie Jofa) must be attached at both sides of the helmet and securely fastened until the completion of the race.
    • NOTE: A limited number of helmets will be available for hire.
  • Clothing
    • Long sleeve top (tucked in)
    • Long legged pants
    • Socks which cover the ankle bones
    • Shoes or boots
    • Gloves whose fingers completely cover the fingertips are required
    • All jewellery must be removed
  • Race Format
    • 3 motos per night (Total 9 motos over 3 week series). Riders may also participate in normal club nights racing.
    • Each schools points added and calculated as per participate as per school to find the winning school (the school with the largest number of competitors will not necessarily be the overall winning school)
    • Rules are as per designated BMX Club formal race nights.

Our track is open throughout the week to the general public (except Thursday nights - our club night).
