Below is a newsletter from BMXNZ regarding riders safety and officiating at the 2007 Nationals. All clubs please scrutineer Bikes before the event and recheck once the defects have been fixed. Check you have the correct number plate on your bike, it is readable by every one, no stickers only the Club Prefix and the Number and the correct colours. Plate colours will not change to the new standard until after Nationals 2007. PADSETS Bicycle padsets are RECOMMENDED RACE PANTS Long moto x pants are the strongly preferred attire. You might also note that ALL BMXNZ high performance squad athletes are required to wear rigid Knee and Elbow Protection. The NH track corners are hard. Use of knee / elbow protection is advised. Short Pants made of tear resistant material are permitted if used together with Knee and Shin Protection with a rigid surface. Short pants. It should be noted that the intent of this provision is to allow the use of specifically designed MTB attire and NOT a pair of running shorts and skate park knee protectors with Soccer shin pads. The Race Director or Chief Commissaires decision will be final in regard to any issues of suitability and safety. Personal Jewellery it has been noticed that personal Jewellery worn by some riders is starting to create concern to officials as some of these items could cause considerable damage to your face in an accident. 2. “Competitors are not permitted to wear personal Jewellery (necklace earrings etc) or accessories that are considered a safety hazard by the scrutineers or race director or Commissaires. Registration; Please remember to bring your license and correct Number plates to registration. This is a requirement, as are any changes or modifications required by the administration staff. Parents at Start Gate; One Parent/Guardian of children 6 years and under may assist the rider onto the gate but must leave the start ramp immediately once the child is set up the first time.
