Waitakere's Weekend Warriors |

With the new season underway and the weekend circuit gaining momentum a number of Waitakere Club riders are enjoying early success. Turnout at these events has been very good with 300 competitors showing on occasion. Waitakere’s #1 nine yr old boy LOGAN ATKINSON has started the season off well with a 5th at the Pre-North Island champs. This has been followed up with an impressive 3rd at the Waikato Tri-series held at Cambridge, Te Awamutu, and Hamilton. Both events saw Logan placing 1st on occasion thru the early rounds. Not to be left out our #1 junior girl EMMA GATES has started her season with an impressive 1st at the Waikato Tri-series. Emma can now add some regional scalps to the collection of young male scalps she regularly collects on Club night. Last but not least Waitakere’s “2007 rider of the year” REN MILLER has made the NZ test team which will compete against the Australian team October 20-21st. No mean feat in itself Ren also battled a bad cold to place 4th at the Waikato Tri-series. For those interested there are a number of upcoming events worth watching out for. October the 13th there is an event at Sunset coast Waiuku, October the 14th has the East city Hoody meet and October 20th-21st has the North Island champs at Hamilton, followed by the Holloween meet on the 28th of October. |

Hamilton Fun Day (16th Sept) |
Wednesday, 19 September 2007 |
A great Fun day of Hamilton racing was unfortunately cancelled by mother nature and constant overnight rain. For the fool hardy who didn't check the web-site at 7:30 it was a long drive to be confronted by morning drizzle and a wet track. So what to do. Cry, sulk, tantrum and chuck the toys..... Not the waitakere crew.... Out with the bikes and onto the track... Surprise, surprise the surface although wet was hard as concrete, well prepared and very rideable. For a first time at this track the boys found it very challenging and had a great day testing their skills on many new jumps. For those in the area or who want to try something different I'd recommend this track.

BMXNZ Team Selection 2007 |
Wednesday, 14 February 2007 |
This year will offer opportunity like no other year in BMX NZ history. This year we, as a sport, will select a number of groups to represent New Zealand at BMX in a Trans Tasman competition for both away and home events. Last year at the North Island titles event in New Plymouth we saw the last senior test team event (16+) between NZ and Australia. Discussions have been in play between New Zealand and Australia with a view to replace the old senior group with a new age of 14-15 years. Progress has been positive and we are pleased to announce that this year we will field a male test team across ages 14-15 years. We will also take two females riders between 13-15 years on the away trip in June this year. Our aim for the North Islands at Gisborne 2007 will be to have a female test team selected and compete against Australia in the same format as 14-15 Male. |
